Just exactly how many days should you vacation to St. Thomas to experience a little bit of everything? I've seen guests pop over for 3 days or as long as a month! Shorter trips are fine when you've been here before and you know what you're looking for; however, we think that 7 days is the perfect start to getting a feel for the island and taking in a little bit of all the island has to offer! Below, we outline a summary of what would be nice to check out during your stay in the USVI.
Day 1: Arrival to the island. Most flights come into STT in the afternoon. By this time, you should already have your transportation worked out. We suggest booking with local rental companies as name brand agencies do not operate here the way they do back in the states. We have our island's best companies listed on our website as well as taxis and shuttles should you decide to go that route. https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/transportation
Once you get on your way, I would suggest doing your main provisioning the first day whether that is with a service or checking out one of the markets in your part of the island. https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/groceries-and-provisioning-services
A lot of guests always go out and have a nice dinner and drinks on their first night...https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/eat because they can finally relax and turn off the main worries of home which leads us into
Day 2: Personally and this is from seeing this time and time again, I would not plan anything major or physically exhaustive on your first official day here. I only say this because most guests tend to go a little hard on that first arrival day. Day 2 makes for a perfect beach day! We have so many incredible beaches here https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/beaches-of-st-thomas and a number of them have concessions (food and drink) so you can have everything you need and just chill and enjoy the water and sun. After you have recovered or just enjoyed nature for the day, then definitely check out your favorite option for a nice dinner on the beach or downtown.
Day 3: Let the excursions begin! Now that you have settled in and gotten a feel for your surroundings, it's time to have some real fun! We have so many ways to explore both above and below the water! We list many options on our site and have suggestions for every type of activity...scuba trips, fishing, boat rentals, jet skis, family trips...literally every category is covered! Find your favorites and book ahead! https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/play
Day 4: After a ton of fun in the sun, maybe save some time for exploring downtown and taking in some history and culture. There are walking tours, food tours and tons of local vendors downtown should you want to explore and learn more about the island. They have built the beautiful waterfront pedestrian path that runs through downtown where you can watch the sailboats go by and seaplanes come in. If it's a tour you're looking for, definitely call and book ahead as they don't operate on a daily basis. https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/historical-culture-museums
Day 5: Take a day trip to Water Island! Water Island is the fourth island in the U.S. Virgin Islands and is its own little oasis right across from Crown Bay closer to the airport. There is a ferry that leaves from Tickles Restaurant in Crown Bay that takes you across and will bring you back when your day is done. https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/car-and-passenger-ferry-schedules
Once on island, you can rent a golf cart through Rachael and explore the island https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/family-kids-shared-trips
and go visit Dinghy's Beach Bar and Honeymoon Beach! There are tons of turtles here and the water is nice and calm...perfect for families and group trips!
Day 6: One last full day before departure...this can be a free day...you always should leave some space in your schedule for relaxation https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/relax and spontaneity. Talking to local residents upon arrival, you never know what cool suggestions they might point you to and you want to leave the opportunity to try something new. Feel free to explore the website https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/ as we do list almost everything you could possibly think of but I prefer being open to whatever comes up and if I find something I really love, maybe revisiting that before leaving!
Day 7: Departure Day! Pack up and say goodbye to the new friends you've made and feel free to leave any leftover goods for the cleaning staff at your property. A great spot to post up for your last day is Emerald Beach Resort https://www.stthomasvisitorsguide.com/hotels-and-resorts
It is right next to the airport and has a beautiful beach with great food and drinks. That way, you can enjoy every minute of your vacation. They have taxis on site and can take you over to the airport when you're ready to go. It is a good idea to arrive 3 hrs early to the airport when leaving. We are quite busy on island during high season...if you get through quickly, then it's a bonus! You'll have time to relax before you go but you always want to plan ahead and prepare for island time. This guide is just a little suggestion and help to plan. Obviously, you may know exactly what you want already and how to spend your days but if you don't know where to start, this may be of help to you! Happy Travels and Welcome to St. Thomas!
